Christmas and other Festivals in Modern Mexico Chloe Sayer Thursday 14 December 2017

Mexico has a vast range of festivals. While some commemorate national events, the majority are religious in inspiration. These draw on the Christian legacy of Colonial rule. After the Spanish Conquest of 1521, many priests used theatrical representation as a method of instruction.  This lecture will capture the flavour and variety of these colourful events, putting us in the mood for the festivities in the UK.
